Sustainable Destination Certification in the Municipalities of Asker and Frogn
The certification for sustainable destinations is a national certification developed by Innovation Norway to strengthen sustainable development in tourism. The certification is a quality mark given to destinations that commit to considering the environment, local communities, cultural heritage, and economic viability.
The project involves a comprehensive process where destinations assess current practices and implement measures for continuous improvement. This includes reducing environmental impact, promoting local values, and engaging the local community in development. Through the certification, destinations commit to documenting progress and regularly reporting results to maintain the certification.
Qualifying for the certification doesn´t mean the destination is sustainable, but it commits the destination to continue prioritizing sustainable and innovative solutions in tourism.
In Akershus, we are working to establish the certification for sustainable destinations in both Asker and Drøbak. The project to achieve the certification lasts about 2 years.
- In Drøbak, the project is planned to be completed in June 2026.
- In Asker, the project is planned to be completed in November 2026.

The Värmland–Østfold Border Committee led the development of the Unionsleden Moss–Karlstad route and also acts as the coordinator of CBB on the Norwegian side. The committee aims to strengthen the Unionsleden in interaction with other cycling routes in the border region, in order to create a strong and attractive cycling region for the international market through joint efforts.
