Sustainability - Visit Drøbak & Oscarsborg

As a municipal tourist office, we will work systematically with sustainability and promote our municipality in a respectful and responsible manner. Sustainability is intended to be a fundamental principle in everything we do.

Innovation Norway: Sustainable Destination

One of the main focus areas for Visit Drøbak & Oscarsborg in the future is to work on sustainable tourism.

Addressing sustainability challenges in tourism requires attention to both the overall picture and the details of a destination.

Innovation Norway's label for Sustainable Destinations is a management system to ensure that destinations work as sustainably as possible. Visit Greater Oslo is now applying for Innovation Norway's "Sustainable Destination" label on behalf of Frogn municipality, including the destinations Drøbak and Oscarsborg. The process towards initial certification takes approximately two years and includes various surveys, plans, and measures. It was the Festningshotellene that initiated the "Sustainable Destination" label in June last year.

Environmental certification "Eco Lighthouse" for the town hall

The "Sustainable Destination" standard asks whether the municipal administration in the municipality being applied for is environmentally certified. In March 2024 the town hall of Frogn was certified as a Eco Lighthouse.
