Charming Bærum

Bærum is centrally located on Oslo's west side and its history goes all the way back to the Bronze Age.

Bærum is filled with modern art and sculpture parks, architecture, spacious hotels and varied dining options. 10-20 minutes from Oslo lies the forest with great hiking and cycling trails, there are beautiful beaches along the entire coastline. Below the Kolsås peak you can see petroglyphs from the Bronze and Iron Ages nearby Dælivann. Lime burning was an important industry for 850 years and three of the lime kilns are to be seen in the municipality.

Explore local and international art and culture

Art moves, engages and provokes – just as the artists intended. It creates public debate, contributes to openness and tolerance and decorates the surroundings. Henie Onstad Art Centre - one of the country's foremost museums of modern art and beautiful sculpture parks and galleries is located here.  At Eiksmarka, the Grini Museum tells the difficult story of the days of the war and the choices that marked the lives of the prisoners. Now you can experience some of the personal stories through VR.
