Interreg project
Design and architecture as a travel opportunity
A hidden treasure waiting to be discovered! Together with Visit Värmland, we have an interreg project which will look at the possibilities of utilizing the potential in terms of design, art and architecture as an opportunity to visit the region - and have the opportunity to see visiting the border region. One trip two countries.
The aim is to establish a robust network of stakeholders and craft-attracting, sustainable visitor experiences that contribute to the region's sustainable development.
We at Visit Greater Oslo are project owners together with Visit Värmland.
The collaboration also includes destination companies in parts of Østfold, Visit Øst-Norge, and the project is supported by Innlandet and Akershus/Østfold county.
The project lasts until June 2025. If you want more information about the project, contact ninni@akershus.com
Culture, history and food experiences with the coastal path as a starting point
The project's aim is to convey and make cultural heritage available by packaging adventure-rich stage-based tours starting from the coastal path and the coastal culture along the Oslo Fjord.
The aim is for visitors to stay longer in the area, get more good food experiences, learn about the local cultural heritage and the area's history, and preferably stay overnight along the way. The project will describe a minimum of trips starting from the coastal path in Asker, Bærum and Follo, as well as digitize points of interest based on tourism experiences, cultural monuments and cultural heritage.
The coastal path around the Oslofjord is well known among locals and connects the places from Moss in the south-east to Lier in the north-west. Along the coastal path we find a variety of cultural monuments from the Neolithic age with settlements, burial mounds, via medieval churches to 19th-century wooden churches, as well as clear traces linked to ice export and the sailing era to artists' homes and artist colonies.
The project aims to increase the dissemination of history through the digitization of points of interest to increase knowledge about the experiences and cultural heritage, as well as facilitate increased use of the coastal path among existing and new target groups.
The project lasts for 1 year and ends in July 2024. If you want more information about the project, contact patricia@akershus.com
Tourism development with the Oslofjord as a starting point
The Oslofjord with its associated archipelago has international growth potential, but needs strengthened cooperation and joint product development to better capitalize on the potential.
The project aims to strengthen the business potential and value creation in established companies through product development and increased export knowledge. Through cooperation with relevant destination companies in the project area, we will facilitate further development of the established business networks these are already working through with the aim of increased product and service innovation.
The archipelago can be developed into a Norwegian, all year destination, "top-of-mind" product. In winter, there is interest in walking tours in combination with local food, photography in winter light, Viking and artistic history as well as special accommodation such as accommodation at a lighthouse. In addition, interest in Norwegian coastal culture and visits to small towns along the Oslofjord is increasing.
The project will help to reach new markets for all year, "top of mind" tourism with a focus on autumn-winter-spring, while product development is aimed at environmentally conscious, willing-to-pay customers. Furthermore, we will work through the destination companies to recruit tourism companies with a desire for growth and product development.
The local tourism will be the main focus of the project as they are responsible for the content and experience that will contribute to building the Oslofjord as an all year experience destination.
The project lasts for 2 years and ends in March 2025 If you want more information about the project, contact knut@akershus.com
